Raindrop Therapy

inspired by the traditions of the Lakota Native Americans

Raindrop therapy is one of the most innovative aromatherapy treatments being practised today, with great results. Raindrop therapy was introduced to modern society by Doctor Gary Young. His inspiration came from the traditions of the Lakota Indians. A Lakota medicine man named Wallace Black Elk told the story of how the Lakota people used to migrate to Canada each spring. There they would experience the beauty and healing benefits of the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights.

They would in ritual reach their hands high into the sky, using them as antennas to pull vibrant energy from the dancing lights. They would breathe the energy level in and push it up the spines. They believed that these enchanting lights had the power to raise their personal energy level and to make them well.

What happens during a raindrop treatment?

During Raindrop Massage, 9 specially chosen essential oils are very carefully dripped from a height onto specific points on the spine like the fall of raindrops. This allows the skin to sense and absorb each oil in the same way it would falling drops of rain. Vita Flex and massage techniques are then used to help manipulate the flow of energy throughout the body. The Vita Flex Massage technique used in Raindrop Massage benefits the back by stimulating circulation and promoting lymphatic drainage, and the essential oils used support this process. These oils also help with detoxification. Vita Flex massage involves precise feathered movements of the fingers and palms over the reflex points where the essential oils have been dropped. After the massage, the luxury of hot towels are placed over the back to open the pores of the skin, helping the essential oils to be absorbed by the bloodstream. You will then be left to relax for a time and to let the healing essential oils be fully absorbed. This is a very gentle massage treatment and, together with the great benefits of the essential oils used, is deeply relaxing and soothing. Ear acupuncture and Reiki can be used in combination with this treatment.

Why are these 9 oils used in Raindrop therapy?

The essential oils used in the Raindrop Massage have anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that promote back and spine health and aid in detoxification as well as being a tonic for the rest of the system. These essential oils can help the body rid itself of the viruses, bacteria and toxins that cause inflammation, pain and disfigurement in the spine.
The essential oils used in Raindrop Massage can help promote alignment of the spine and help balance the flow of energy throughout the body. Raindrop Massage essential oils increase and align energy flow by opening or releasing blockages that are preventing free circulation. Like detoxification, this alignment process continues for several days following Raindrop Massage treatment. Only the purest top grade organic essential oils are used for this treatment.
